I write some code like this: var i = 0; var result = (function() { i++; return i; })(); alert(result); but I always get 0, why? A: because if you read the function declaration you would see that this anonymous function takes no parameters, it is like if you had written : var myFunction = function(){ //do stuff } it's just a function without any parameters, so when you call your function you will be accessing the local variable "i", not the global one. So you need to declare your variable inside the function to access it: var i = 0; var result = (function() { i++; return i; })(); alert(result); Budnick wrote:Nothing wrong with online multiplayer now, something that is happening more and more with online games. I was thinking more along the lines of trying to figure out which DLCs people have downloaded so that you can include them in the final release. It would be a little annoying to get the base game, get all the DLCs, and then find out that you haven't got the DLC that you're missing. I'd say the online server functionality can be on, but it should only be on for a couple of hours at a time, and only allow you to start games. If people want to make their own servers, they can do so. Budnick wrote:Nothing wrong with online multiplayer now, something that is happening more and more with online games.
